SHRI SOMNATH BOSE was born in a traditional musical family in the year of 1972-31july and his grandfather SANGEETACHARYA PANDIT ANATH NATH BOSE an eminent Vocalist and Tabla-player of yesteryears who was the court musician of "RAIGARH STATE" and served RAJA CHAKRADHAR SINGH

From the childhood days, SOMNATH grew up in an melodious and rhythmic atmosphere and he started tabla practice & playing under the authentic guidance of his guru-father Pandit GOBINDA BOSE, one of the Great tabla maestro of FARUKABAD,PUNJAB & AAJRARA GHARANA of our country and world acclaimed . After that he took talim under his elder uncle late Pandit SHYAMAL BOSE One of the finest exponents of Tabla in the firmament of music world. Later he became the disciple of Great PADMABHUSHAN PANDIT JAYAN PRAKASH GHOSH from his tender age.

The All India Radio had no other alternative but to choose Somnath as the “BEST TABLA PLAYER” of the year in the year of 2000-2001, from the all India tabla competition’s platform. The all time favorite and Legendary tabla Maestro Pandit Kishan Maharaj of BANARAS GHARANA gave the award to the young talented tabla player.

SOMNATH has toured U.S.A , UK , CANADA , GERMANY and thrilled the audience as a solo & accompaniment artist . He also performed with his mother Bidushi SIPRA BOSE of BANARAS & LAKHNOW GHARANA- One of the legendary vocal artist of our country and world acclaimed in classical and traditional light classical music.
